4H Youth Development

For over 100 years 4-H'ers have enjoyed fun, hands-on learning activities supported by the latest research of land-grant universities.  In Rensselaer County, thousands of youth between the ages of 5 and 19 participate in traditional clubs, special interest groups, and school enrichment programs.  See What's Happening in Rensselaer County now!

Events

Support Rensselaer County 4H programs by purchasing locally produced maple syrup. Return the 4-H Maple Fundraiser form by November 1, 2014 for Thanksgiving orders and by December 1, 2014 for Christmas orders. The order form shows the many sizes and bottles available for purchase. Orders must be prepaid and can be picked up at the CCE office, 61 State Street, Troy, NY 12180. For more information call 272-4210.
December 4, 11 and 18 from 6:00-7:30pm at the CCE offices, 61 State Street, Troy, NY. This 3 part workshop will teach you how an internal combustion engine works by showing you the principles of engine mechanics, and allowing you to tear into an engine so you can see first-hand how an engine operates. Must be at least 12 years old to participate and enrolled in 4-H for the 2014-2015 program year. Total cost of the 3 workshops is $25 and each participant will receive a 22 piece combination SAE/Metric wrench set. December 5, 2014 from 6:00-8:00pm at the  Brittonkill/Tamarac High School Cafeteria. Hosted by the Thrills and Skills 4-H Club, this open house will feature a community service project writing Holiday cards for the Veteran's Hospital. Call 272-4210 by November 28, 2014 to register.
