Cornell Cooperative Extension of Rensselaer County offers two types of soil testing: a pH test to determine the need for lime or sulfur and complete nutrient analysis.
For pH samples, use the form found here: Click here for the soil test form if you are unable to print the form, please provide the same information as asked for on the form, printed clearly, on your own paper. Two cups of soil are needed. One pH test per Rensselaer County address is provided “free” at this time. Additional samples or out-of-county samples are $2.00 per sample.
For complete nutrient analysis samples, you may use the pH form as found above, but write “COMPLETE NUTRIENT ANALYSIS” at the top of the form. If you are unable to print the form, please provide the same information as asked for on the form, printed clearly, on your own paper. Two cups of soil are needed. The fee is $30.00 per sample. Checks may be made payable to “Cornell Cooperative Extension” and must accompany the sample. Your sample will be dried, packaged and mailed to the University of Massachusetts.
